Privacy policy

Please read before publishing

This is a starting template, not legal advice. Before the site goes live, check it against the services you actually use — analytics, newsletter, comments — and against India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, plus the GDPR if you have readers in Europe. Have it reviewed if you are unsure.

What we collect

We keep this to a minimum. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

  • Information you give us — your name, email address and message when you use the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Usage information — basic, anonymous statistics about which pages are visited, collected through our analytics provider.
  • Technical information — your browser type, device and approximate region, as recorded automatically by our hosting provider.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message.
  • To send the newsletter, if you asked for it.
  • To understand which recipes are useful, so we can write more of them.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we never will.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small number of cookies for basic functionality and anonymous analytics. Embedded YouTube videos and Instagram content set their own cookies once you interact with them — those are governed by Google's and Meta's privacy policies, not ours. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Affiliate links

Some links take you to other websites, such as Amazon. Those sites may record that you arrived from here, in order to attribute a purchase. Once you leave this site, their privacy policy applies. See our affiliate disclosure.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store your email address only for sending the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address from the list.

Children

This site is written for parents and carers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@dailybitesdiary.com and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
